Welsh-language electronica project
Prosiect electronica Cymraeg

About Us
CHWALAW is an electronica project FORMED BY Welsh singer-songwriter Efa Supertramp and CARDIFF-based producer Nick Ronin.
It started with ‘Diflanu’, a remote-collaboration Welsh-language electronica single released in August 2021 with harp and additional composition by Welsh musician Cerys Hafana. The single was voted number 4 on Siart Amgen (alternative chart) 2021 BBC Radio Cymru (Wales).
Chwalaw then embarked on a recording project with musicians in Germany who speak the minority-language Sorbian. Find out more about this project on our Blog page. This manifested as two songwriting residencies and gigs in the Sorbian region. The project birthed a single and music video for Dim Arwyr (No Heroes) that features Welsh-language rap-vocals from Izzy Rabey, harp from Cerys Hafana and violin from Berlin-based Paul Geigerzähler.
Amidst further collaborations that build towards a full album, a project for Tŷ Cerdd saw four new songs being produced in early 2026 with regular collaborators Cerys and Izzy along with Palestinian oud player Salih Hassan. With most of the team now resident in Splott, east Cardiff, the entire EP was recorded and mixed in the area and fuses Welsh triple-harp with oud and strains of hip-hop and electronica. The initial release is via Bandcamp but with most major streaming platforms coming shortly after. It’s already garnered radio play on BBC Radio Wales.
