Welsh-language electronica project
Prosiect electronica Cymraeg

About Us
Chwalaw is a Welsh-language folk-electronica project formed by Welsh singer-songwriter Efa Supertramp and Cardiff-based producer Nick Ronin with collaborators Izzy Rabey, Cerys Hafana, Paul Geigerzähler, Kollektiw Wakuum and Oud Resists.
Ahead of the debut album, their most recent release ‘Y Goriad’ featured four new songs produced in early 2026 with regular collaborators Cerys and Izzy along with Palestinian oud player Oud Resists. With most of the team now resident in Splott, east Cardiff, the entire EP was recorded and mixed in the area and fuses Welsh triple-harp with oud and strains of hip-hop and electronica. The EP garnered radio play on BBC Radio Wales, including a full play through by Rhys Mwyn.
In recent years, Chwalaw took part in a project with musicians in Germany who speak the minority-language Sorbian. This manifested as two songwriting residencies and a series of gigs in the Sorbian region. The project birthed severals single and music videos featuring violin from Berlin-based virtuoso Geigerzähler.
The project began with ‘Diflanu’, a remote-collaboration Welsh-language electronica single released in August 2021 with harp and additional composition by Cerys. The single was voted number 4 on Siart Amgen (alternative chart) 2021 BBC Radio Cymru (Wales).
